THOR: RAGNAROK - Marvel Might be Thinking About Bringing THOR Director Kenneth Branagh Back For the Threequel

Marvel Studios is currently filming CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR in Atlanta. They are in pre-production for DOCTOR STRANGE which starts filming in November. And they are in the early stages of development for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2, SPIDER-MANTHOR: RAGNAROK, plus others.

While THOR: RAGNAROK still has a long time until it moves from development to pre-production, it seems like Marvel has its sights set on a familiar director to helm the project. Or at least this is what a new rumor claims.

According to the website founder of Heroic Hollywood — who reported this rumor on the YouTube show Popcorn Talk — Marvel might want to bring back THOR director Kenneth Branagh to helm the threequel.

"...[H]earing that Marvel wanted Kenneth Branagh back for Thor 3. But he just got an offer to direct 'Murder on the Orient Express' at Fox. So I don't know if it is going to happen or not. They're thinking about bringing him back into the fold."

Marvel Studios has a history of working with a director for multiple films. This is due a director seeing eye-to-eye with studio head and producer Kevin Feige's vision of the greater picture which is the interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directors Jon Favreau, Joss Whedon, James Gunn and the Russo Brothers have all directed more than one MCU film and it seems like Branagh might be the next name to add to the list.

THOR: RAGNAROK releases on November 3, 2017.
