THOR: THE DARK WORLD Director Alan Taylor Shares His Post-Production Unhappiness

There are some online conspirators who are looking for any reason to hate on Marvel Studios. These people are looking for any reason to give the studio crap when it comes to who has real creative control or diversity or gender. Nobody said the Internet is full of bright and happy people because it's definitely not.

Of course it doesn't help when someone who has previously worked for the studio opens up about some issues while working with Marvel Studios. THOR: THE DARK WORLD director Alan Taylor is such a person as he spoke with Uproxx about some unhappiness during post-production of The Dark World.

"[Marvel was]... very different... and I’ve learned that you don’t make a $170 million movie with someone else’s money and not have to collaborate a lot. The Marvel experience was particularly wrenching because I was sort of given absolute freedom while we were shooting, and then in post it turned into a different movie. So, that is something I hope never to repeat and don’t wish upon anybody else. This was not like that. The story we started telling is essentially the story we finished and are bringing out into the world. But there was a lot of collaboration, as there is going to be on something this big."

Uproxx followed-up by stating how they could tell Taylor wasn't happy with at least some part of the final product while promoting The Dark World. Taylor laughed and said, "I’m hoping I wasn’t that candid?"

"Okay, well, you’re probably good at reading body language over the phone. I’m not good at hiding stuff like that."

Previously, Taylor had stated he did not direct the end credits scene featuring The Collector (James Gunn directed that stinger). In the end, Marvel Studios is paying the tab and studio head Kevin Feige is the mastermind producer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If a writer or director doesn't understand this by now then he or she needs to consider working with a different studio.
