CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Will Have a New, Modern Version of General 'Thunderbolt' Ross

When Marvel Studios officially announced the CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR cast one of the surprise additions to the cast was actor William Hurt reprising his role of General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross from THE INCREDIBLE HULK. At CineEurope on Wednesday in Barcelona, Hurt spoke with IGN about returning to the role since he was last seen as Ross back in 2008.

“I loved playing Ross the first time because I was able to try and create an ego as big as the monster he was chasing. And one that was as warped too. [Ross in Civil War] is different because it’s a different style. It’s a more modernized style. And what they’ve done is they’ve taken a character who was the Ross from the older film and made a new version. This is a much newer Ross. A much different Ross. And I liked that a lot.”

It can be speculated Ross is on the 'heroes need to register themselves' side of the super hero registration program which is said to be the side Tony Stark is on. Remember that we saw Stark visiting Ross in a bar at the end of THE INCREDIBLE HULK. We also know Ross is a supporter of using those who have power for his own military agenda because he was the one who gave Emil Blonsky a form of super serum in THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR releases on May 6, 2016.
