BLACK PANTHER: Marvel Confirms Meeting With Director Ava DuVernay but Final Decision is Coming End of Summer

On Monday June 22, a rumor report hit the web stating director Ava DuVernay might have landed the director gig for Marvel's BLACK PANTHER. Nothing was confirmed or corroborated about that rumor report.

Then, yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter published their interview with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige who did confirm he has met with DuVernay for BLACK PANTHER but he did not confirm she was hired.

“We’ve met with her for sure. We’ve met with a number of people for a number of movies. She has been one of them… We need to find the best director for any given movie, and that’s really where we always start. If diversity is part of that, it’s great. It’s important. You will start to see things across the industry as a whole change as more filmmakers come up through the ranks and become part of making movies like this.”

Feige then said that he will have his BLACK PANTHER director within the next few months.

"I think by the end of the summer... Black Panther especially."

BLACK PANTHER releases on July 6, 2018.
