Tons of Views of the Second STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer Means There's Already a Record Breaking Opening Prediction
You probably watched the second trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS lots and lots of times. And it's okay to admit this because I did too. In fact, its YouTube view numbers were absolutely ridiculous compared to other movie trailers released last week for ANT-MAN, Terminator: Genisys and the 20-second BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE teaser.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the second trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS raked in over 64.6 million YouTube views from April 16-20. That's not even a full week of viewing and it crushed the first week total for its first teaser trailer (58.2 million).
ANT-MAN came in second place behind The Force Awakens with an April 14-20 view total of 16.3 million for its first full length trailer. Some people seem down on ANT-MAN but its view total is similar to the 16.4 million views GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY got for its first full trailer and 17.6 million views the first full trailer for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER received.
To round out the Top 5, Terminator: Genisys was third with 10.9 million view, BATMAN V. SUPERMA: DAWN OF JUSTICE in fourth with 9.2 million and the first teaser for The Force Awakens was fifth with 6.03 million adding to its 109.1 million views grand total.
In another report from THR, a digital marketing company called Amobee is already projecting that The Force Awakens will have the biggest global release box office numbers the planet Earth has ever seen. They predict a $533-$539 million worldwide opening.
