Oscar Isaac Teases His Villain Role in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Within the next month or two, director Bryan Singer will be back in Montreal filming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Called the conclusion to the First Class Trilogy, the next X-Men movie will once again focus on the younger X-cast featuring James McAvoy as Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto, plus others. Actor Oscar Isaac is also attached to the film as its title villain, Apocalypse.

Teased at the end of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, En Sabah Nur (a.k.a. Apocalypse) was seen building the Egyptian pyramids along with his Four Horsemen in the distance. Isaac will take over the role and take it to a dark place with a level of destruction not yet seen in previous X-Men movies.

“I’ve seen a couple things,” Isaac told MTV in January. “Scary shit. Scary shit… I’m going to bring [the X-Men] down to their knees. It’s amazing, I’m so excited about everything that’s going to happen.”

The actor also teased (via Esquire) the research he's doing for the role of Apocalypse.

"You find something that makes it interesting for you. With X-Men, it's about why this woman who invented Apocalypse, [writer] Louise Simonson, she was tasked with: make a new arch-villain. She said, 'OK, I'll make the embodiment of the Second Coming with the Four Horseman and all.' That's scary shit. So I'm curious about that. What's the philosophical expression behind the apocalypse? What apocalypse means, which comes from the Greek for 'to reveal.' To lift back the curtain."

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE releases in theaters on May 27, 2016.
