Exclusive: Disney Loves 'FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN' Title and Marvel Studios Might Too

Ever since Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Studios, fans have prayed for Spider-Man to go back home and have his movie rights moved from Sony Pictures to Marvel. This never happened but this past February the two studios announced a rare Hollywood partnership to bring the Wall Crawler into Marvel Studios' expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And it's a win-win for Sony and Disney.

Then, in early March, a rumor report hit the web stating that the possible title for the introduction of Spider-Man into the MCU might be 'SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN' and that DAREDEVIL creator Drew Goddard might be currently writing it as well as a target to direct it. Marvel never confirmed or commented on this rumor.

When a movie is announced, there is a tremendous amount of preparation and development that goes into it. During this time a lot can and will change, and the next Spider-Man movie is no different.

According to one of The Daily SuperHero's insiders, there are more than one Spider-Man titles being considered, and this should be no surprise to anyone. However, I was told some of the Disney brass really love 'FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN' as the movie title. The word 'friendly' might be the reason Disney loves it because it's a very 'Disney-friendly' word.

The next question is if Marvel Studios likes this title possibility. It seems Marvel executives might and they could already be talking about it behind closed doors because studio president Kevin Feige said "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man' at the media event for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON this weekend, via BadAssDigest.

"It’s everything we announced last October, and we’ve added your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to the mix… and it’s all set."

This quote is out of context but name dropping Spider-Man with 'friendly neighborhood' before his name could be a clue that the title is being considering. Marvel is very methodical with their process and teases. Using this quote as a reference may be coincidence, and some conjecture, but the timing of it being said and my insider telling me this new title info is too juicy of a story to not post online before any other website does it.

Just like with the rumor report saying 'SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN' might be a title option, 'FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN' is another title option and should also be considered rumor. At least for right now because there are surely other Spider-Man titles being considered along with these two.

UPDATE: There is another title rumored to be in consideration, 'SPIDER-MAN: THE NEW AVENGER.'
