Please be OLD MAN LOGAN: If WOLVERINE 3 is Hugh Jackman's Last Film, Then Fox Should Not Recast Immediately

Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman took to social media yesterday and teased an image of wearing an adamantium claw prop with the caption "one last time." To make a long story short, the vagueness of his post caused the Internet to collectively gasp. Theories instantly popped up whether he was teasing his last turn as Wolverine or a potential cameo in DEADPOOL or X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.

THE WOLVERINE director James Mangold is helming its sequel and pretty much confirmed Jackman was referring to the next Wolverine solo movie, on Twitter. The next Wolverine movie will start filming in early 2016 for its March 3, 2017 release.

Not much is known about the next movie but many speculate it will be an OLD MAN LOGAN film, based on the comic book story with the same name. (The movie title WOLVERINE: OLD MAN LOGAN should be seriously considered, if true.)

Released by Marvel in 2008, OLD MAN LOGAN is set 50 years into the future where all superheroes have been defeated by villains. Wolverine was tricked into killing the X-Men and it left him trying to kill himself. When killing himself failed (those healing powers can be a deterrent) he became a pacifist vowing to never use his claws again. It's seriously a must-read and you can read more about it by clicking here.

Obviously, the story would be adapted to fit into Fox's expanding X-Men movie universe but the basic concept of OLD MAN LOGAN would be great on the big screen, especially if it is Jackman's last turn in the role. This would then lead into another problem with the eventual recasting of Wolverine.

Jackman is Fox's biggest X-star right now so recasting him will not be easy because he has made Wolverine such an iconic movie character. Fox should not recast the role immediately because those are big shoes to fill and there needs to be some time between Jackman's final romp as Logan to a new actor taking over. The shock value of changing actors too soon might be too much for fans handle. Although, with Wolverine being Fox's biggest actor and character box office draw, there might not be much time between an actor change.

Just a suggestion... Fox really needs to introduce the mutant Cable who could, in theory, become the face of the X-franchise once Jackman is done as Wolverine.

Good luck to whichever producer or casting director is tasked with the job to find the next Wolverine. That's a lot of pressure to choose wisely.
