Marvel Will Have a Booth at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con but Marvel Studios Might Not be in Hall H

Editorial: Right off the bat, I feel bad for you James Gunn because you continue to be mis-quoted because of the way the Internet thinks "news" works. At the end of December 2014, Gunn went on a social media rant on how he's sick and tired of being mis-quoted and once again the Internet has done it again to him. This is just another sign of the times and that real journalism that is taught in college 101 courses is more or less dead.

This past weekend, Gunn did an impromptu Facebook Q&A session and one fan asked the Guardians of the Galaxy director if he will be a the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International this summer. Gunn said he didn't know.

"I’m not sure. Marvel isn’t going so I’m not sure I will either."

So what happened next? The Internet twisted this into headlines claiming that Marvel won't be at SDCC at all.

C'mon people... this is absolutely ridiculous because Gunn was obviously referring specifically to Marvel Studios and not all of Marvel Entertainment. Comic-Con is a huge presence for Marvel comics and to not clearly state that Gunn was most likely referring to Marvel Studios and their Hall H appearance is just bad reporting by creating sensationalism headlines for more web traffic.

Just stop because if you seriously think Marvel won't be at SDCC at all is dumb, stupid and completely idiotic. Their presence for comic books is huge and Marvel has one of the biggest booths on the entire showroom floor.

However, Marvel Studios' presence at Hall H could be exactly what Gunn was implying. Disney's D23 Expo is a month after SDCC and that could be when Marvel Studios has its panel. Or Marvel Studios may move to "key note" presentations just like they did in Hollywood last October when they announced the entire slate of Phase 3 films.

I know for a fact that there will be a Marvel movie presence for 20th Century Fox's Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse. Plus, Fox's Gambit could make an appearance too.

Not to mention that Sony Pictures always has an SDCC panel and since they own the Spider-Man movie rights Marvel Studios might let Sony present who has been cast as Peter Parker. (This is speculation on my part while I've already heard rumblings about Fox's panel at SDCC.)

It's not the end of the world if Marvel Studios skips a year at Comic-Con and decides to make announcements at the every-other-year D23 Expo or does like Apple does with their "key note" pressers. There's plenty of other potential Marvel movie news that will be at Comic-Con and Agents of SHIELD could have a presence, too.

Here's a little speculative thing to think about when it comes to Marvel Studios' Hall H spot this summer... maybe... just maybe Disney wants to use it for Star Wars: The Force Awakens instead. That would definitely make headlines just as big as a Marvel Studios Hall H panel.

In conclusion, whether Marvel Studios is at SDCC or not there is still time to change plans if they were indeed considering not attending it this summer.
