Talking to Myself About the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Trailer; Specifically HULK and IRON MAN

Sometimes I like to talk to myself. I am an only child so it's quite alright and not a sign that I'm crazy. When I do talk to myself, I tend to ask myself questions and answer them with my opinion, thoughts and some logical theory.

Today, I'd like to talk to myself about the new trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Specifically about Hulk and Iron Man. So let me get started here...

You ready for some questions?

Yeah I'm ready, but I really don't know specific details so I'll do my best at answering.

Did you see the new trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron?

Of course I did! And Ultron will surely haunt my dreams.

For sure. He is definitely not for kids.

His first 'Mark 1' appearance in the trailer is a thing of nightmares and horror movies.

He certainly is terrifying and I've already heard complaints about how some parents are a bit upset that this trailer could mean a darker movie that is not suitable for their kids.

Well, it will be a PG-13 movie so it shouldn't be a surprise. Don't forget the mature tone and subtly dirty jokes that were throughout Guardians of the Galaxy.

Solid point. So what are your thoughts on what's up with Bruce Banner and Hulk in this trailer?

It's honestly tough to say but I'll take a stab at it. I think Banner (or Hulk) is dealing with some sort of crush on Black Widow. In one scene you can see her standing close to him with her hand on his arm/shoulder when Ultron Mark 1 first appears. She seems to be trying to keep him calm since Ultron's first reveal could cause anxiety for Banner which could lead to a Hulk appearance. Also, there is that quick moment when Hulk and Black Widow touch their hands together. Obviously, there's some kind of connection but whether it's a love connection or not really remains to be seen. It can be assumed that Banner is dealing with a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety due to this potential love interest and he loses control. Or perhaps Hulk is the one who is actually in love with the Black Widow, but I'm just guessing on this one, and that would make for an interesting internal conflict between Banner and Hulk.

Interesting theory. So why would Hulk and Iron Man be fighting?

Again, I'm not certain but if I had to guess I would think that Tony Stark sees how increasingly unstable his friend is as Banner and/or as Hulk — perhaps due to my love interest theory above — and he issues some kind of threat to Banner/Hulk that causes Hulk to be angry, make an appearance and start smashing. In order to stop Hulk, Stark suits up as Iron Man and then suit up into his brand new Hulkbuster armor. #LetThemFight!

It's really tough to figure out these things from a trailer, I get it, but let's move onto Stark. Do you get a sense that he's becoming more of an enemy in the eyes of his Avengers teammates?

Based on this trailer, logic dictates the answer is yes. We see Stark talking about how everything is his fault, which includes the creation of Ultron. We see Thor going Darth Vader-style on Stark and choking him, so Thor's pissed at Stark. Hulk fights Iron Man, so Hulk's pissed at Stark. And this all seems to lead into Captain America probably being pissed off at Stark in Captain America 3. It all kind of makes some sense as to why Iron Man could be more of the antagonist in Captain America 3 than a co-starring hero when the film comes out in May 2016.

So what you're implying is that even though Ultron is the main villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark is beginning to be set up as more of a bad guy for Captain America 3?

Pretty much. Yes.

Intriguing, for sure! But let me move onto one final question and this is about Ultron. If he wants to cleanse the Earth of humanity, why is he seen and seem to be working with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch?

Great question and I honestly do not have any speculation about that right now except to think the obvious which is to say Ultron is simply using the twins for his own evil plans.

In other words, you have no clue.

That is correct.

Well, that's all I got for now. Thanks for answering your own questions.

No problem, now let's take two minutes to watch this trailer again...
