IRON MAN 4: Robert Downey Jr. Says a Bunch of Confusing Stuff Regarding His Future With Marvel Beyond AVENGERS

Back in July and right before the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International, Robert Downey Jr. said he was optimistic about the potential for his return as Tony Stark in Iron Man 4. Then, in August, he said there's no plan for Iron Man 4.

After contradicting himself over the last few months about returning for an Iron Man 4, Downey has again teased about his future with Marvel Studios beyond his appearances in next summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers 3.

"I'm sure we'll ride that thing. You've got to surf that all the way in to shore," Downey says of his run as Tony Stark, via The Hollywood Reporter."I think I was at the forefront of something that was coming into being, and I think it has carried me as much as I have informed it. That's the healthy way to look at it. It's so easy to become inflated by the successes, but what they really are are long, strong trends. It's just another wave."

A master of talking circles, Downey is simply partaking in (what I like to call and have termed it as) 'The Marvel Studios Way.' This means when talking in public and to the media in circles Marvel Studios' actors and directors tease, hint and even troll the fan base into confusion. It's a proven method over the past year-plus and is definitely working.

Downey returns at Stark and Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which releases in theaters on May 1, 2015.
