Dwayne Johnson Says SHAZAM Has Been in the Works Since 2008 and it Was Almost Announced at Comic-Con 2014

Warner Bros. executives must have given Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson some leeway to talk Shazam because he can't stop talking about being in a Shazam movie. He confirmed this to the Associated Press yesterday.

Next up, Johnson spoke with with the website Omelete and detailed how he was ready to make Shazam official at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International but WB executives weren't quite ready. (Editorial Note: The following quotes were translated from Portuguese by Google and then edited to read properly.)

"My trip to Comic-Con was a surprise, so I called to executives at Warner Bros. to see if they would like to announce Shazam there. Unfortunately, it was not time yet but the official announcement should happen soon."

The Rock then spoke about how he was offered the role years ago.

"We have been talking about it since 2008, when I was first offered the role. It was just a matter of finding the right script and it finally happened. We have a writer who understood the story and brought an amazing approach not only to Shazam but the power of Black Adam."

As of right now, Johnson is in Shazam but he is still unsure as to whether or not he will be the hero (Shazam) or the villain (Black Adam) in a Shazam movie.

As I said in an earlier post, see that story link below, I think there's a slim chance he could play both parts. The characters of Shazam and Black Adam are pretty much exact copies of each other with one being the good guy and the other being the bad guy.
