AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Director Joss Whedon Hints at How Ultron Will be on the Big Screen

Avengers: Age of Ultron has been in full filming and production mode across many different countries including South Africa, Italy, South Korea and the United Kingdom. From many of those sets, fans have seen a lot of the characters who will be in the movie including a pre-CG version of the title villain Ultron. (Pictured above.)

Speaking about Ultron, via Empire, writer/director Joss Whedon teased the sequel's main villain.

"I'm having a blast with Ultron. He's not a creature of logic—he's a robot who's genuinely disturbed. We're finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is."

Actor James Spader is portraying the villain's voice and doing some motion capture work for the villain but has not been seen on any public location sets (yet). It also sounds like Spader's version of Ultron will be a bit different from the comic book version of Ultron and this should be no surprise since this is a film adaptation of the comics. In the comics, Ultron is definitely disturbed but he is not known to be funny.

Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in theaters on May 1, 2015.
