'Weird Crime' is Coming to Marvel Courtesy of Writer Warren Ellis' New MOON KNIGHT Comic Book

Not often will you see a comic book post here on The Daily SuperHero since the website's focus is more on the movie side of things. But sometimes a comic book post is needed when there's an announcement that one of the best comic writers is coming back to Marvel to write a new book.

Writer Warren Ellis will be back at the helm of one of Marvel's most popular underground anti-heroes when Moon Knight gets his own Marvel Now comic book in 2014. Ellis was writing for Marvel as recently as 2012 on the Secret Avengers and has also written several issues of the Astonishing X-Men book. He is also the man behind Iron Man's Extremis story arc back in 2005.

The new Moon Knight book will explore the highly disturbing world of Marc Spector. A known crazy person—see writer Brian Michael Bendis' comic book run on the anti-hero for further proof of his insanity—Moon Knight is a vigilante who some say is Marvel's version of Batman. Honestly, he is 1000-times more extreme... and crazy.

“The man is demented in more interesting ways than I think Batman ever was,” Ellis said to Hero Complex.“[His] cape is actually a crescent moon and he goes out only at night and dresses in reflective white so you can see him coming. Now that’s nuts... I like that.

"The best Moon Knight stories for me were always ground-level but weird crime. ‘Weird crime’ has kind of been the touchstone for me for this [comic book] revival.”
