Previously seen in the Star Wars universe as Jedi Master Mace Windu, actor Samuel L. Jackson was on the Late Show with David Letterman and talked about Star Wars. In a nutshell, Jackson said he is currently working with actor Mark Hamill on a new film and asked Luke Skywalker himself if he's been contacted by Lucasfilm or Abrams. Hamill said he has not. Jackson also asked Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor if he's been contacted and he said he hasn't either.
However, it needs to be noted that Jackson said he is in London with Hamill filming a new movie. Episode VII is filming in London. Hmm... but moving on.
The former Jedi Master actor then joked around and told Letterman that he, Hamill and McGregor should just go to the Episode VII production and stand around to try and get in the new film. Or they might go to the current auditions that are being held around the world. Letterman jokingly chimed in saying if they didn't get a role from the auditions it would be very sad. Jackson agreed. (Lots of paraphrasing there, by the way.)
Anyway, perhaps the change of writers may have dramatically changed the script and Hamill as an elder Skywalker is no longer a part of the story. Jackson did let it slip, a month or so ago, revealing actress Elizabeth Olsen was cast as Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron and this was confirmed just last week. So maybe he is letting it slip out that Hamill is really not involved in Star Wars Episode VII.
While that last sentence could be highly unlikely—since Abrams films rarely have information leaks—this may be something Lucasfilm or Abrams instructed Jackson to say in order to create a buzz which would lead to websites writing up posts like this one. (You got me, if true!) But instead of jumping to conclusions let's be patient and wait to see if this is true or not when Lucasfilm makes official casting announcements via the official Star Wars website.
