Exclusive: Hasbro's THOR: THE DARK WORLD Toy Line Nears End of its Production Run; Dark Elf a Rare Figure

Thor: The Dark World is in theaters soaking up the box office cash across the planet and its toy line has been very successful for Hasbro too. Especially when you compare it to the fact action figures from the 2011 Thor film are still warming peg hooks in various big box retailers, like Toys R Us, across the U.S.

According to The Daily SuperHero's Hasbro source—who is the same one who told me Hasbro would expand their Iron Man 3 figure line back in May which was then confirmed (and unveiled) at SDCC 2013—the toy line for the Thor sequel has been a much better success than the first because the first was way over-produced. However, the source also said the toy manufacturer is already nearing the end of its production run for Thor: The Dark World Wave 1 figures. And the example was used that if you haven't already found the short-packed Dark Elf figure (pictured above), then you probably won't see it much in retailers anymore.

For the toy hunters, collectors and kids who were hoping to get more than one Dark Elf in order to build an army of them... it sounds like that won't be happening. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and please don't kill the messenger.

Obviously, you can blame the mass production of figures from the first movie for the shorter production cycle of Thor: The Dark World figures this time around. To corroborate this information from my Hasbro source, even HasbroToyShop.com no longer lists the Dark Elf figure while the Thor figures, Loki and Kurse are currently listed there.
