CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER [Brief] Character Details of the Film's Title Card Villain

Who is the masked man? This is something many casual Marvel fans might be asking themselves after watching the first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

While Marvel comic book readers (should) already know the answer to this, those who do not need to know information about this masked man, who is the title card villain in the Captain America sequel. That's right, the masked man is the Winter Soldier.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with Entertainment Weekly and briefly discussed the villain.

"Winter Soldier has been methodically, almost robotically, following orders for 70 years, and Captain America is struggling with what it means to serve a country, to serve a government, and whether the ideals he grew up with still apply."

Besides his appearance in The Avengers, Cap hasn't really been seen in the modern day world. This is another thing Feige touches upon in the same interview.

"The movie takes place in the modern day, with Cap struggling for his position in the world, and just when he thinks he might be finding his niche, we throw in something from his past to throw him for a loop."

Obviously a simply Google search will provide you with more information on the comic book universe version of the Winter Soldier—along with answer to what Feige says is "something from his past"—but you'll have to make that decision on your own if you're not familiar with the villain. But be warned, you will spoil it for yourself and The Daily SuperHero will not be the one to do that.

At least not until Marvel Studios executives, Cap 2 directors and/or the actors open up and divulge that info publicly to the press. Until then, it's up to you to open up that can of mystery. Or not.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens in theaters on April 4, 2014.
