X-MEN Writer to Produce & Pen FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot; Is This a Sign of an Eventual X-MEN Crossover Movie Too?

Since Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer released in 2007, 20th Century Fox has been solely focused on continuing their X-Men movie franchise(s) with 2011's X-Men: First Class and this summer's The Wolverine. At one point Fox tried to hammer out a script for a Daredevil reboot but this did not happen quick enough and the movie rights reverted back to Marvel Studios, in 2012.

Fox is now trying to develop another franchise within their X-Men movie universe, when they green lit writer/director Jeff Wadlow to develop an X-Force movie. Fox has also been working with director Josh Trank in order to get a Fantastic Four reboot off the ground and into production ever since the studio announced a theatrical release date of March 6, 2015.

Speaking of the Fantastic Four, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively confirmed that X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: First Class and X-Men Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg has officially signed on to produce and rewrite the current Fantastic Four script that is in development.

This is really big news for one reason and one reason alone. Fox could still be planning to eventually have a giant-sized movie crossover film starring both the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

Kinberg, Bryan Singer and Fox's Marvel franchise consultant Mark Millar are probably the three guys who know Fox's growing Marvel movie universe better than anyone else right now. And hiring Kinberg for the Fantastic Four could mean an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover movie, which has been rumored for many months now.

With Singer already saying that his next Marvel movie project is a "mash-up" (see link below), The Daily SuperHero has speculated that could mean an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover movie. And now with Singer's First Class and Days of Future Past writer moving to Marvel's First Family, this all has the makings of Fox setting up a very big ensemble movie in the near future.
