Marvel's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Confirmed to be "Weaving in and Around the Movies"

Two weeks until Marvel's Agents of SHIELD premieres on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern, on September 24! Many have wondered what the first season's bottom line story arc of the new television show will be and while a main part of that story will revolve around how and why Agent Phil Coulson is back from the dead, others have wondered if the show will interact with Marvel Studios' films.

Luckily, show co-creator Joss Whedon divulged (via ComicBook) some information about how the show will mingle with the movies.

"The series takes place now,” Whedon said. “The series takes place where we are in the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe, and hopefully as it continues there will be a little bit of sort of weaving in and around the movies that are coming up. Obviously, avoiding imitating or spoiling them, but perhaps getting to lay in certain things that have to do with them."

Whedon continued to talk about the time frame of the TV show.

"There was talk about doing it in the past, but we wanted the show to be current. Not just because we wanted to keep current with the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe and the movies, but because we want to be able to talk about the world, be able to talk about now. Because even though it’s a superhero show and even though it’s there to entertain, we want to be able to say something about what human beings are going through right now in the world, in the country."

So does this mean Agents of SHIELD could tease some things that may happen in this November's Thor: The Dark World? Or how about next April's Captain America: The Winter Soldier

It's going to be very interesting to see how the TV show will bounce off of things happening in the movie universe. The wait is almost over and many who have already seen an early screening of the pilot episode have had nothing but great things to say about it, too!
