Rumor: STAR WARS EPISODE VII to Have a December 2015 Release to Get Out of a Crowded Summer

Right now there's one very simple fact about Star Wars Episode VII. No one outside of the development team knows anything about the sequel as long as Disney and Lucasfilm continue to stay hush-hush about it. However, this doesn't mean the rumor mill is staying quiet as it has been churning out a ton of rumors, theories, speculation and whispers over the past few weeks.

The newest rumor is courtesy of Badass Digest who claim they have a source who says Disney and Lucasfilm are reconsidering a summer 2015 release for a late 2015 holiday release instead. The website writes:

"Multiple sources have told me that right now Disney and Lucasfilm have December circled on their calendars, with a mid-month release—the 15th—being most likely. That would take Star Wars out of the crowded summer and, more importantly, give JJ Abrams and company a couple more months to work on a movie that's already running a tighter schedule than most of the other Star Wars films."

This would make sense with Disney's other big franchises already having established release dates in summer 2015. The Avengers: Age of Ultron kick-starts the summer movie season in May and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will come out at the mid-point, in the beginning of July. Plus, as Badass Digest also writes, the marketing campaign could be a great holiday gift pitch too. The Daily Superhero's own marketing tag line suggestion would be something like, "Disney is giving the world the hottest holiday gift of 2015 when Star Wars Episode VII releases in December."

We are still waiting on you Disney... give the fans something, anything... please.
