INDIANA JONES 5 is Not in Development But This Could Change With Harrison Ford Ready to Reprise the Role

Indiana Jones fans do not like to discuss Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull because the majority of them did not like the movie. But that isn't stopping actor Harrison Ford from talking about his interest in coming back for a fifth installment in the franchise to the website The Telegraph.

"We've seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it's perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn't necessarily have to kick as much ass," Ford said. "To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do."

Now that Disney owns Lucasfilm they also own the Indiana Jones franchise. Yet, there's been more movement by Disney on developing another Star Wars trilogy instead of anything Indiana Jones-related. Despite the hate it has received from fans, the last Indiana Jones movie did make over $800 million worldwide in the box office on a budget that was just under $200 million. In other words, Indiana Jones can still make the mouse a ton of cash and when it comes to the movie industry... it's all about making money for any studio.

Now that Ford has expressed interest in reprising the role in another adventure, and the fact the franchise can still produce buckets of cash, look for Disney to consider developing another movie for Indy in the near future. (Near future because the 71-year-old actor isn't getting any younger.) And for those fans who are resistant to the idea of another Indy movie, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg most likely won't be a part of another one with Disney in control now.
