Now that Marvel has Joss Whedon overseeing their movie universe, Fox has also hired on former Marvel comics writer Mark Millar to help consult their Marvel movie properties in a similar manner. Now, Millar has hinted, again, (via SFX) that which many fans have been wondering... that Fox's X-Men movie universe and a rebooted Fantastic Four franchise will exist in the same universe.
"Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies. I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool—and I expect we will see more of that."
It is more like a hint but all of this is starting to seriously sound like there might be a giant ensemble crossover movie starring both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in Fox's the future. Millar has teased several times that big things are being planned in the future for Fox's Marvel movie universe.
Especially after X-Men Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer said that his next Marvel movie will be a 'mash-up' project. In other words, Fox, Millar and Singer could be planning an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover which would easily cause many fans' heads to explode.
UPDATE: Millar took to Twitter to say an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover movie is not being planned. (But it could be and he's just trying to throw a little misdirection fans' way too. We'll see...)
