Director Edgar Wright Confirms ANT-MAN Pre-Production Start Time, Script Finalization and More

With so much focus on what Marvel Studios is planning in 2016 and beyond for Phase 3, not much focus has been on writer/director Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie. This could be considered a good, or bad, thing but Wright has now confirmed several important production details about Ant-Man in an interview with Collider.com.

"I’m starting pre-production on Ant-Man in like October and then shooting next year. And I’m basically like once this press tour is done [for The World's End], I’ve got to take a month off. I never took a holiday after Scott Pilgrim, so I’ve now gone two films in a row without actually a proper vacation.”

The writer/director also touches on the topic of Ant-Man's script and where it's at in its life right now.

"So in October, I’m going to start a script which has existed in some form since 2007, so it’s great to kind of come back into something, which is in good shape, so that’s exciting."

Now if Wright is still finalizing the script and pre-production work begins sometime in October, you can guess casting announcements might start as soon as the holiday season this year. Or perhaps in the early months of 2014. Filming should be estimated to begin in late summer or early fall 2014 as well.

Ant-Man releases in theaters on November 6, 2015.
