This is what it feels like at this time every year for comic book movie fans as the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con is literally around the corner. On Twitter, reporters are already saying they are at the airport to catch a flight or landed in San Diego. The Daily SuperHero will also be partaking in this early on Wednesday morning and arriving in SoCal in the afternoon thanks to the time zone change.
But let's get into some X-Men Days of Future Past rumor patrol since it seems like everything else Marvel movie-related is getting lots of rumor press right now except next summer's X-Men reunion. According to the website Vulture (via CBM), details have reportedly been made available regarding the next X-film cast and part of the plot. So here's your SPOILER WARNING in case you don't want to know any of these potential details.
First to bat are some casting rumors starting with actor Peter Dinklage who is now said to allegedly be playing the creator of the Sentinels, Bolivar Trask. No surprise here since many speculated this was going to be his role anyway.
Next up is newly cast actor Josh Helman. The rather unknown actor was thought to play a rebooted Cyclops in the new X-Men movie but it's being reported he will play a young William Stryker instead.
Finally, a plot detail is also being reported by Vulture saying that Wolverine is indeed the time traveler and his trip back into the 1970s will be aided by Kitty Pryde.
"[Kitty] uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman's Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty's powers and bring their friend back to the future."
In the comic book version of the Days of Future Past story, Pryde is the time traveler by transferring her mind into the younger version of herself to save the future. How she manages to transfer Wolverine is still a mystery but common sense says she might be transferring Logan's mind into his 1970s self. This too would explain why Logan is dressed to impressed with 70s big collars and bell bottoms.
Bryan Singer and his production team may have figured out how to make the future Wolverine go into the past, while the past Wolverine would look the exact same (ie X-Men First Class cameo) and both would not cross paths. Even though seeing two Logan's interact would probably be very cool.
One last thing... actor Lucas Till has also just been confirmed, by Singer, to repirse his role as Havok.
