X-FORCE Update by Writer Jeff Wadlow; Could X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Time Travel Help Set up Cable?

Comic-Con International has come and gone for another year and Fox had one of the biggest surprises last Saturday bringing the entire main cast to their panel for fans to see. Hall H went bat sh*t crazy when this happened, by the way.

One of the pre-SDCC rumored announcements Fox was planning was an expanded X-franchise universe beyond the X-Men and Wolverine franchises. But this never happen. Yet, an X-Force movie is definitely in development and currently being written by Kick-Ass 2 writer/director Jeff Wadlow, who gave an update on the script for the next possible X-movie (via Screen Rant).

“I’m pretty deep into it… I have the whole story completely worked out. I’m about 20 pages into my draft. If I wasn’t promoting ‘Kick-Ass,’ I would probably have a draft [already], but ‘Kick-Ass’ is going to slow me down just a little.”

One of the things fans should be considering right now is that next summer's X-Men Days of Future Past is using the device of time travel. Director Bryan Singer even commented, during Fox's panel press conference, that Days of Future Past is just as much a science fiction (due to time traveling) movie as it is a superhero movie.

With next year's X-Men sequel introducing the mutant time traveler Bishop to audiences, along with Wolverine being the main time traveler in X-Men Days of Future Past, it seems clear Fox is working the time travel angle. With this being said, there is no reason to not think Fox may have a tease or Easter Egg for another time traveling mutant at some point in next summer's X-Men movie with the introduction of Cable.

Cable, created by Rob Liefeld, is from the future in the comics. Even though Cable is not been officially announce to be a part of Singer's giant ensemble cast, and he probably won't, this doesn't mean a subtle set-up reference could be in play. This would help both Fox and Wadlow in setting up a potentially larger X-universe for the studio.

The mutant who is best known as the leader of X-Force, at least to comic fans, could get his debut very soon. Or not and this is reading between the lines a bit too much. You decide and if you want to comment on this topic, head over to The Daily SuperHero's Facebook page by clicking right here.
