According to the website Digital Spy, a Marvel editor has hinted at a Guardians animated series at the end of a recent issue of Marvel NOW's Guardians of the Galaxy comic book.
"Now, look, I can't officially confirm that we spent a LOT of time talking about the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon but wouldn't that HYPOTHETICALLY… be amazing?" Steve Wacker wrote. "Seriously though, don't ask me about it because it totally didn't happen."
Hypothetically, yes it would be amazing. Hypothetically, since Wacker is talking about it possible happening it makes it sounds like it will happening.
Guardians of the Galaxy is Marvel's riskiest movie adaptation since they decided to become a studio and start producing their own films in-house. Even the comic fan base was not too familiar with the Guardians team, prior to the movie announcement, which is why a new animated cartoon series makes perfect sense. (And it makes more sense than the new Hulk and the Agents of SMASH series that is slated to premiere in the coming months.)
Plus, can you really get enough of a talking raccoon who loves big guns? No. No you can't.
