According to one of The Daily SuperHero's Hollywood insiders, GotG is getting really close to production in London. A few months back it was reported the movie would start filming this summer and the source says, "Marvel has had delays to their initial production start dates recently but due to the tremendous amount of CG work needed... filming is almost ready to begin."
Makes sense seeing as how creating GotG is a huge process with aliens, species and technologies needing to all be created from scratch for the big screen. All of that can be a time consuming process from conceptual idea and art to finished 3D modeled CGI product. (George Lucas can tell you all about this process.)
Recently, Marvel has had to push back the start of production for some of their films. Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier both were pushed back but this does not seem to be the case with Guardians. Plus, actor David Bautista has been tweeting from London on his Twitter account. A telling sign that GotG is revvin' up to get its camera rolling.
With many casting announcements hitting the media wire for Guardians the past few months, it appears casting is nearly complete. Especially when the majority of the main characters now have actors attached. Still waiting on who's voice will be used for Rocket Raccoon, by the way.
Guardians is slowly building itself a nice ensemble cast like all Marvel films seem to have anymore. Chris Pratt is playing the lead as Star-Lord, with Zoe Saldana (Gamora) and David Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) rounding out the non-CGI members of GotG. Also part of the main cast are: Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Crops leader), Karen Gillan (female villain), Lee Pace (male villain) and John C. Reilly (S.H.I.E.L.D. agent liaison) to name a few.
Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1, 2014.
