As Captain America: The Winter Soldier wraps in Cleveland this week and moves back to Los Angeles for the final leg of the production, juicy details have been seen while in Cleveland.
Wednesday night on CBM, The Daily SuperHero published fan photos that were very spoilerific to the point where Marvel Studios contacted CBM to have them removed from the website. The headline and scene description written by The Daily SuperHero was left online though. A telling sign the photos are a legit plot spoiler while the scene details were wrong. Otherwise, Marvel would've had all the text removed as well.
For those who missed the photos, all that can be said right now is there was a chair that looked like a torture device. Maybe.
Before we get into the theory behind the mystery chair, let's take a trip back in time a couple of weeks to when Captain America 2 crews were filming on the Memorial Shoreway highway overpass in Cleveland. One particular scene had the Winter Soldier jumping off the overpass and down to the street level. Being that The Daily SuperHero was on location for multiple days during the filming of this scene, it can be confirmed that the jump is at least 30-40 feet and maybe more.
Now you're probably thinking to yourself, "What's the point of all of this already?" and the point is only Steve Rogers could make that jump without hurting himself due to the super soldier serum. The Black Widow was seen swinging down from the overpass, Falcon had to glide down and the Winter Soldier's goons had to get down via ropes. In other words, a non-superhuman cannot make that far of a leap and not break a few leg bones.
You seeing the point of this yet? If not get ready because what is being implied here is that the Winter Soldier has been injected with a form of a super soldier serum. This would make him more powerful than his comic book counterpart.
The Winter Soldier has been seen doing some amazing feats on many of the Cleveland sets like ripping open an SUV door but this was done with his bionic arm so it makes sense. However, his ability to freely jump down 30-40 feet is something that really stands out.
Maybe the "torture chair" isn't really a "torture chair." Maybe it's the chair where the Winter Soldier is created, his bionic arm attached and he is potentially injected with a form of serum that allows him to have some superhuman abilities—like being able to down down 30-40 feet without injury. If we were able to see the image of this chair again you would see that it did have some slight similarities in appearance, albeit a more modern appearance, to the chamber device where Rogers received his own superhuman powers. More specifically, if the chamber device didn't close around Rogers and remained open. Hmm...
Bottom line, if the Winter Soldier gets a version of the serum injected in his system it will make him a more formidable foe for Rogers on the big screen. And it's not like this would be the first time hearing about a super solider serum being recreated since the Red Skull had a version in his system in Captain America: The First Avenger and Emil Blonsky had another version in his system in The Incredible Hulk.
It's just a theory but one that might come true when Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
