Captain America The Winter Soldier is Confirmed to Start Shooting in Cleveland in May

Not known as a spot for Hollywood to bring in their big-budget film productions, Cleveland, Ohio has quickly become a hot spot for the superhero movie genre. Spider-Man 3 was shot along Euclid Ave., The Avengers shut down parts of East 9th for weeks and now Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to shoot in Downtown Cleveland.

Sometimes there are benefits to living in a place like Cleveland and Marvel Studios seems to enjoy the town now that they are coming back. Or maybe the fact that directing brothers Joe and Anthony Russo are Cleveland natives is a reason that Marvel is coming back to town. Let's just say it's a little of both.

Getting to the point, and since The Daily SuperHero is headquartered in Cleveland we have been able to confirm by two sources close to the CLE film community that Captain America's sequel is officially starting shoots in May. You heard it here first!

Cleveland's Memorial Shoreway
Previously, the film was rumored to be starting production as late as June.

Regarding locations, one which is being considered is rumored to be the Memorial Shoreway highway that leads into downtown along the shore of Lake Erie.

In February, Marvel Studios began their search to find local Cleveland production crew. More information about where to send production crew resumes can be found at the Greater Cleveland Film Commission's website: ClevelandFilm.com. And the working title of the movie during its production is "Freezerburn."

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to release in theaters on April 4, 2014.
