Believe Nothing You Must: With Abrams at the helm, Star Wars Episode VII story info will not leak and will be guarded like it's the President

Online news is getting more and more tabloid-like, especially when it comes to "information" about highly popular topics. Like the next Star Wars movie.

As of the publishing of this post only four things are known to be fact about Star Wars Episode VII. One is that J. J. Abrams is directing the movie. Another two facts are that Oscar-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt is writing the script and the movie is scheduled to release in 2015. The final piece of information known is that former Star Wars and Indiana Jones screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan and Sherlock Holmes writer Simon Kinberg are consulting on Abrams' Star Wars movie along with penning their own respective Star Wars standalone features too.

That's it. That's all that is known to be actual facts about the start of a new trilogy in a galaxy far, far away.

George Lucas, despite not being a part of the creative process with Star Wars anymore, has built the franchise into what it is today based on one simple concept. No matter how big Star Wars ever becomes, the movies are the flagship of the franchise. In other words, no story would ever be re-hashed into a movie version and the movies need to always be original stories to bring more to the franchise's universe. Even though Disney now owns Star Wars, they also own Lucasfilm who is in charge of continuing the Star Wars universe without its creator.

This is why you wouldn't see anything based on the novels or graphic novels or comic books because those are stories that have already been told. Perhaps some characters could be used, and new tales of their adventures will be told, but nothing is certain except the fact the movies will be a story that has never been told before. And for marketing purposes you can bet there will be plenty of new characters to give kids and collectors new toys to buy.

So you can take all the rumors that are flying around in the mills right now and take them with the smallest grain of salt. This isn't to say they are all false but the majority of the time, they are false. It doesn't matter if a website has broke news first, in the past, that actually become truth. The fact of the matter remains that for one story that is true, there are dozens and dozens of stories that never become true and only stir the pot and create debate in the fan base. (Heck, they can even be fabricated by website editors just to get web traffic, as well.)

As of right now nothing is certain about Star Wars, so unless Disney or Lucasfilm offer up an official word on the next movie ... don't believe it. Especially with Abrams at the helm. He runs a very tight ship where leaks do not happen. Look at his past films like: Cloverfield, Super 8, Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. None of them had any major leaks and Star Trek Into Darkness' set was even barricaded when Abrams built a giant wall surrounding the production to keep photographers, wandering eyes and press out.

Star Wars Episode VII will be the same and you won't know anything about the movie's story until a trailer is released. Even then you'll still be in the dark because how much do we know about this summer's Star Trek Into Darkness right now and after seeing its trailers? Not much.

Point made.
