The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro is pretty much Jamie Fox's role to lose right now

By Daniel Wolf

With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set to start production in April 2013, the casting process has already begun. At Halloween,  actor Jamie Fox teased that he was to be Spidey's next villain Electro. Followed, a few days later, by director Marc Webb gushing over Fox in another interview.

The reason Electro is Fox's role to lose is from a recent quote he gave Access Hollywood.

"Yeah, that’s in the works," Fox said to Access Hollywood. "I have a little daughter, four years old. And what’s crazy like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme. So now, well fingers crossed that it all works out. I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy."

Obviously, nothing is confirmed but it sounds like Fox is locked-in without signing his name on the dotted line right now. This news seemed to have come out of left field but it also makes sense since there is a big buzz surrounding Fox's performance in his upcoming role in Quentin Tarantino's new movie, Django Unchained.

Whether you like the idea of Fox portraying Electro or not, it sounds like he is going to be the man for the job unless something drastically changes. Sound off in the comments below your thoughts on Fox as Electro.
