Iron Man Rumor: Robert Downey Jr. is considering picture-to-picture deals with Marvel for future movies

By Daniel Wolf

While Marvel Studios is prepping Iron Man 3 for its May 2013 release, what is sure to be the biggest news sooner than later is what will become of actor Robert Downey Jr. and his future with Marvel.

According to one of The Daily SuperHero's sources Downey might only sign picture-to-picture deals to reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man moving forward. If this is true, it makes some sense because the guy does hold all the power of being the studio's leading superhero and biggest star. Plus, he can stop playing Iron Man at any time and he won't be locked into multiple movies. (Please stick with playing the character as long as possible.)

As of right now, Iron Man 3 marks the final contracted Marvel film for Downey. Perhaps the actor is waiting to see how much money Iron Man 3 pulls in the box office before re-signing a new contract. This could be a huge bargaining chip to get Downey the biggest deal possible since he really needs to re-sign to be in The Avengers 2 in 2015.
