At the end of September, Sony confirmed both actor Andrew Garfield and director Marc Webb were signed on for the sequel to this past summer's Spider-Man reboot which comes out on May 2, 2014. Female actor Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacey, is still not confirmed but is rumored to be in talks for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as well.

Stacey seems like she won't be the only female trying to attract the interest of Peter Parker since Variety has reported the studio has sent out a casting call to play Mary Jane Watson. The report also states that Shailene Woodley is in very early talks for the role of the redhead but Parker will also get his best friend, Harry Osborn, in the sequel since a casting call has been issued to play him too.

The news stop there but the rumors do not. Variety also reported a rumor saying Sony is considering Electro as the next Spidey villain. We here at The Daily SuperHero also have to report that we have heard a rumor saying Mysterio is also in consideration.

No matter who the villain is, it is nice to hear rumors saying The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is looking for a villain who has not recently been on the big screen. Keeping it fresh and new.
