England's greatest super spy, James Bond, is not really a superhero but he is considered such by many of his die hard fans. Those same fans are in for a surprise since rumors are spreading like wild fire that the next actor to be 007 will have a much darker skin tone than all of the past incarnations put together.
That's right, the next Bond could be a black actor.
Actor Idris Elba, who plays Heimdall in the Thor franchise, is rumored to have met with Bond producers to gauge his interest in possibly filling 007's shoes after Craig fulfills his next two movies he recently signed on for.
This is all according to female actor, Naomi Harris, who was quoted as revealing this information to the Huffington Post while she was doing press for Bond's upcoming movie, Skyfall.
"I didn't realize that there was this talk [about a black Bond], and then I did a film with Idris, and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli," Harris told The Huffington Post. "And that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond. And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he's a great guy."
Back when Craig was cast as Bond, many fans were outraged a lighter color hair actor was chosen to play the super spy instead of the traditional dark hair versions before him. Well, if some of the fan base freaked out because of that, they will probably freak out is this comes true. (And that's just sad.)
In the opinion of The Daily SuperHero, it's great to hear the producers are considering a vast change to switch up the franchise a bit and it should never be about the skin color with Bond ... it's all about the actor. Bottom line, chalk this up right now as the next rumor to go along with writer/director Christopher Nolan planning a two-part story arc for Bond in the future.
