Marvel Studios has confirmed writer/director Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie is green lit and will go into full development for the big screen immediately, with a tentative release set for 2015. This is the same year as The Avengers 2 is rumored to hit theaters as well.
The real question here is will Ant-Man come out before or after The Avengers?
We sent out a few emails to our Hollywood sources and a nearly unanimous response told us Ant-Man is not part of Marvel's Phase 2 of their cinematic universe, it's the start of Phase 3 and will come out after The Avengers 2. The reason it's not unanimous is because a response was a, "Not sure."
To quickly recap Phase 2, it consists of Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World in 2013. Followed by Captain America: The Winter Solider and Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. Finally, The Avengers 2 in 2015.
In other words look for The Avengers 2 to possibly have an end credits scene setting up an Ant-Man movie which will release after the second installment of the ensemble film. This also leads us here at The Daily SuperHero to believe the first solo Ant-Man film will began Phase 3 and The Avengers 3's next villains which could be none other than the robotic super villain Ultron.
With 2015 and Ant-Man still a few years aways, take all of this with a grain of salt since what may or may not be truth or rumor now can (and most likely will) change as 2015 nears.
