Recently, 20th Century Fox confirmed the release date for the sequel to X-Men Origins: First Class on July 18, 2014 but now Fox has registered a possible title for the next film as well.

Per Ain't It Cool News, Fox has registered the title "Days of Future Past" with the MPAA, which is where studios and production companies go to file titles for their respective films that will go into production. Fox has yet to confirmed anything yet.

If you are not familiar with the Days of Future Past story line the only thing you really need to know is there are Sentinels in it. Yup. Those giant mutant-hunting robots who will most likely be hunting down mutants in the sequel. But what's intriguing is that in this story arc there are two parallel stories happening with one in the present day and the other in the future.  Future Kitty Pryde (also known as Shadowcat) attempts to warn the present day X-Men of the pending doom with anti-mutant laws and Sentinels ruling the streets in her future and to help prevent that outcome.

This sounds like a far-fetched story to follow word-for-word but using some concepts and principles and incorporating them into the sequel seems like the best move.

The first film kind of set up the possibility for Sentinels in a sequel. Sebastian Shaw was killed but he was the guy (in the comics) who helped fund the Sentinel program, so who's to say he didn't already get that ball rolling behind the scenes and before his death. All speculation right now but this brings a whole new cannon of material to over-analyze in future speculations for X-Men Origins: First Class 2.

Or should we say X-Men Origins 2: Days of Future Past? Or X-Men: Days of Future Past?

Bottom line the Sentinels are made of metal and you can bet Magneto will have his way with them and this thought alone makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up for all the carnage and visuals that could be seen up on the big screen.
