In what appears to be somewhat of a surprise twist, since this character has been off-the-radar, new rumors say Marvel Studios' mystery 2014 movie release is none other then a stand-alone Black Panther film.
Per the website Latino Review:
"Marvel is going BIG TIME after the urban film audience and I applaud them for that. Last year, it was reported that Marvel hired Mark Bailey to pen the script and I hear the script is fantastic. The clues were always there. They showed Wakanda on the map in Iron Man 2 and Captain America’s shield is made from Vibranium which also hails from Wakanda."
Marvel has yet to confirm this rumor but they did say they will announce two more movies in the coming months and if Black Panther is indeed one of the two then it will be interesting to hear whether Ant-Man or Doctor Strange is the other movie—seeing as how both have long been in the rumor mill and info about these two films has heated up in recent months too.
