One of the most celebrated comic stories for Tony Stark and Iron Man is Demon in a Bottle which spanned The Invincible Iron Man issues 120-128 from March-November 1979.
If you are not familiar with this story, it deals with Stark's alcoholism and many fans want to see this story reach the big screen in a future Marvel movie. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said this is not likely, at least not in the third movie.
"He's not an alcoholic in the movies," Feige said to Empire magazine. "Maybe one day that's a deeper story, but we're not going to do it unless we can make it a full-focused plot."
For how popular Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of Tony Stark and Iron Man is, it would be a tough sell to have him become a full-blown alcoholic on the big screen since its an even tougher sell to younger audiences. In Iron Man 2 we all saw a Stark who was intoxicated while wearing his Iron Man suit during his birthday party and that might be the worse alcoholic condition we will ever see Stark in.
