Even though Thor 2 is still a ways off from even starting pre-production, some basic plot details have been released.
Per Entertainment Weekly:
"The plot will take Thor literally to other worlds. It will primarily be the journey of that character, of he and Jane Foster and how the new dynamic with his father [Odin] is working out, as well as what are the broader stakes for The Nine Worlds.”
There's been rumors Marvel will explore more of their cosmic characters on the big screen including Guardians of the Galaxy. There is also the chance Thor 2 could mix into this, since it revolves around some of the same cosmic properties in the comic universe as well.
More clues as to what Thor 2 could be about are sure to unfold in The Avengers this May.
