Back in December is was reported how former Ghostbuster, Bill Murray, literally shred a copy of the "Ghostbuster 3" script into tiny pieces and mailed it back to Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis with the following note.
"No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts."
Akyroyd has now taken a chance to end the ever-churning Ghostbusters–Murray rumor mill in an interview with the UK's The Telegraph.
"It's a surety Bill Murray will not do the movie," Aykroyd said. "He doesn't want to be involved."
The actor, who portrayed Ray Stanz in the Ghostbuster films continued to speak about the new film.
"At this point it's in suspended animation," Aykroyd said. "The Studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it... We're not going to do a movie that exploits the franchise."
The film is not completely dead and Aykroyd confirmed there is still heavy interest by the studio to make a new film a reality.
Of course there is seeing as how Ghostbusters will transcend both an old and a brand new fan base which equals a lot of money at the box office—in theory.
