Disney Pushes Back Release Dates For Marvel Studios and Star Wars Movies, But DEADPOOL 3 Hits Theaters Earlier Now

Disney has officially announced they have updated their release date schedule for Marvel Studios and Star Wars films by pushing most of the dates back.

But first, one of Marvel Studios' movies is actually moving up its release date. DEADPOOL 3 is moving from November 8, 2024 to leading off next summer's blockbuster season on May 3, 2024. Previously, CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD was set to release on May 3, 2024, but it has been pushed back to July 26, 2024.

Also moving to the following new release dates are: THUNDERBOLTS on December 20, 2024, BLADE on February 14, 2025, FANTASTIC FOUR on May 2, 2025,  AVENGERS: KANG DYNASTY on May 1, 2026, and finally AVENGERS: SECRET WARS on May 7, 2026.

Lucasfilm announced a change to their STAR WARS release dates for upcoming films in development and those will now release on May 22, 2026, December 18, 2026, and December 17, 2027.

While the reason for these changes were not announced, it is more than obvious it is due to the ongoing writer's strike in Hollywood right now as development and production have mostly stopped unless a script was already set in stone. However, no changes to the script can be made during production during a writer's strike under rules set forth by the Writer's Guild.
