Marvel's ETERNALS Opens With $71 Million Domestic Weekend, $161 Million Worldwide

Despite all the negative reviews, and a very low (for Marvel Studios standards) CinemaScore, the ETERNALS still opened with the fourth largest domestic opening of 2021.

ETERNALS took in an estimated $71 million over this weekend which puts it behind the opening weekend numbers of BLACK WIDOW, VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE, and SHANG-CHI.

Worldwide, ETERNALS brought in an estimated $161 million.

The true test is in its second weekend as word-of-mouth has not been great, when compared to past Marvel Studios movie releases, so a second weekend drop off could be bigger than expected. However, the release schedule does show promise as the biggest upcoming release to contend with is Sony's GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE in two weeks.
