SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Villain Has Reportedly Been Revealed to be Mysterio

Right now, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are in the final stages of pre-production on the sequel to SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, which starts filming this summer. So, of course, we will start to get reports of new roles, villains, and targeted actors/actresses for the sequel.

According to Deadline, the villain has been revealed and it will be Mysterio. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal is the first to be targeted for this role, also according to the Hollywood trade website.

Mysterio, whose name is Quentin Beck, was first introduced in Amazing Spider-Man No. 13 in 1964. Mysterio is not a super-powered villain in the comics but he is a master of illusion, deception, special effects, hypnosis, as well as a highly-skilled magician.

The sequel — which will hopefully get a real title sooner than later — releases in the U.S. on July 5, 2019.
