SUPERGIRL Review: Crisis on Earth-X Part 1

This SUPERGIRL episode leads off our 4-part DCTV crossover with, thankfully, more inclusion for Supergirl than last year. It's also more action packed. We get a first look at Earth X where, apparently, Nazis have taken over there is an evil Arrow and not so evil Guardian.

Back between Supergirl’s Earth and The Flash’s Earth everyone is preparing for the wedding of the decade. Felicity, Oliver and Diggle come in from Star City. The Legends make their way after fighting in Nottingham and Supergirl decides, after moping at home with Maggie, that they should go to get out of a breakup funk.

All the girls arrived in National City to have a spa day with the bride, sans Alex and Sara. While Oliver and Barry try on tuxes. A bit of positive rays before the impending doom.

Cisco and Harrison work on cure for firestorm to be separated without either Jax or Stein dying which they seem to have much Jax’s disappointment. With the separation of firestorm, Jax would not only lose his powers but also Stein would leave the team.

Everyone from the Legends to Kara and Oliver gathers at Jitters for the rehearsal dinner. While Alex busies herself by trying to drink Sara under the table, Kara is in a more melancholy mood.

Barry comes to comfort her and also to ask her to sing at their wedding after she blew him away with their duet during a previous crossover.

Joe gives a heartwarming speech on behalf of Barry and Iris. All the lovey-dovey mood prompts Oliver to propose to Felicity which doesn't go well and she rejects him after he persists. Which is loud enough to make it awkward enough for the whole wedding party. Yeah a rehearsal dinner is not the best time to propose

The wedding day begins with less bumps than the rehearsal. Although Alex has an awkward encounter with her one night stand who just happens to be Sara, it goes smoothly, that is until during the ceremony the priest is evaporated by a gun and the wedding is stormed by the Nazi regime from Earth X. Basically the worst type of villains ever and now they have superpowers.

They all instantly go into superhero mode. Kara takes after the flying leader while the others team up to take out the Nazis with the most memorable team ups being Alex and Sara and Killer Frost with Heatwave. Kara’s fight with the leader takes her over the city and back in the church. She disables her (and breaks the windows) with a semi-sonic clap. The Nazi archer takes his teammate and they fall back.

The heroes regroup back at Star Labs with the Nazi that Alex and Sara knocked out with the intent to extract information. Meanwhile, the two leaders from the fight are revealed to be alternate version of Supergirl, The Green Arrow and also joining them the Reverse Flash who have no intentions of backing down.

A little hint at a possible member of the Allen family popped up in the episode. An overly excited waitress at the wedding seemed very invested in the couple. With time travel on all of these shows, it's not far fetched she is a descendant of Barry and Iris.

It was very impressive first episode of the latest crossover event. The fighting in the church was most impressive as the various team ups happened. The crossover continues with part 2 on Arrow.
