If you're a fan of the Marvel hero Squirrel Girl, then today is not a good day for you. Freeform has dropped the new show from its network allowing Marvel to shop the comedy series to others.
This report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who states Freeform did not have an available slot to debut the new series in 2018. The Disney-owned network was having a hard time finding a good slot in its upcoming 2018 schedule to premiere the show. Marvel TV has stopped production for the series as they try to find a home for it, and hope to resume production in January once a new home has been secured.
Now, Marvel Television is going to shop NEW WARRIORS to other places, maybe streaming services, looking for a two-season commitment (at first) and a guaranteed 2018 debut. However, Disney allegedly does not want Marvel to shop the show to competing networks, like CBS or Fox. This means the series could premiere on ABC, if they're interested in finding new Marvel shows to reinvigorate their superhero selection, or Disney's new exclusive streaming service platform, which isn't slated to launch until 2019. Netflix, Hulu, or maybe even Amazon could be players for NEW WARRIORS, too.
THR also reports how the pilot episode for NEW WARRIORS has tested "through the roof" catching the attention of Disney executives so there is excitement for the show at the top of the food chain.

With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of the Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world … even if the world isn’t ready.
