A Quick Preview of SUPERGIRL Season 3

SUPERGIRL ended on a bang with Mon-El being driven off earth, Alex asked Maggie to marry her, and Cat Grant takes back her position at Catco.

The main surprise of the season was the reveal that another child from Krypton was sent to earth to ‘Reign.” Since then it has been confirmed that Reign will be played by Odette Anable. Unlike, Kara, she doesn’t realize her true nature or her powers. Initially seen as Sam, a single parent soon to become the villain of this season.

Reign will no doubt be a big part as she reaches her potential of being a supervillain to Supergirl. I have a feeling her child will be a big part of her development. What propels a villain forward more than the loss of someone?

While Kara will have her hands full with Reign, she’ll also be juggling several other things as well including her job. After being fired from Catco, Kara has been freelance and been writing her own blog. Cat is back now as editor of Catco. Cat is of course a favorite and now that she knows Kara’s identity as Supergirl, you can’t help but hope she’ll be more involved in her adventures. Although she may not show up regularly, Cat will be an ally for Supergirl and Kara when she does make an appearance.

Alex and Maggie had a big turn of events when Alex proposed. Given that it has only been a season since the relationship start and there has been more ups and down than a roller coaster, it’s anyone’s guess as to if they’ll actually go through with a wedding.

Of course, Kara’s going to be dealing with inner turmoil now that she has lost Mon-El for the good of earth. I’m sure it won’t be the last sighting of the Daxamite. Kara will also be turning her attention fully on being Supergirl and protecting earth. It won’t take long for Kara to realize that she can’t be a superhero all the time and not even she can save the world on her own.

SUPERGIRL returns to Mondays starting on October 9, on The CW.
