STAR WARS EPISODE IX Brings on a New Writer For Script Work Before Heading into Filming

Director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly's latest script draft for STAR WARS EPISODE IX is in need of a rewrite before the cameras start rolling in early 2018. This report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who said the studio has brought on Jack Thorne for more script work prior to the start of production.

This shouldn't really come as a surprise as scripts for both STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY were constantly getting tweaked, even during filming. The Episode IX script has needed altering over the last few months due to the unfortunate passing of actress Carrier Fisher at the end of 2017; General Leia was supposed to have a major role in the ninth film of the Skywalker franchise. So to say this is some kind of panic move by Lucasfilm and Disney is foolish because the script has been reworked for months now.

STAR WARS EPISODE IX releases on May 24, 2019.
