Negativity Continues to Follow Marvel's INHUMANS Before its Premiere

There's a gut feeling that things aren't good in the lead up to the premiere of Marvel's INHUMANS on IMAX September 1 and then on September 29 on ABC. It premieres on IMAX first, then assumes an eight-week schedule, with added footage and content, on ABC in the Friday night "death slot." This is a familiar cancellation slot for when shows move to Friday nights to end their run — this also doesn't bode too well for AGENTS OF SHIELD as it moved to Friday night, too.

In only eight episodes, INHUMANS is going to have to pull off a miracle to get more than its mini-series size first season order. An uphill battle, for sure, but one that is made harder due to poor reception of its first images and trailer as well as the negativity following showrunner, Scott Buck, who is coming off of a lot of critical panning for Marvel's IRON FIST on Netflix.

INHUMANS director Roel Reine has now spoke to Metro and said that he was not a fan of the first trailer.

"I was mixed about the first trailer as well. I felt like it didn’t give you the scope, it didn’t give you a lot of secrets or visual effects. I felt it was a little bit too early because the visual effects were not ready – Medusa’s hair was not ready. So I was really nervous about it and would think the fans would not really like it. The trailer was made by other people, so I was really nervous about it when I saw it. So I was like, ‘oh guys maybe we should hold off’, but it was too late because it was already in the open."

However, Reine did say he enjoyed the most recent INHUMANS trailer, released at San Diego Comic-Con last month, a lot more.

Elsewhere online an alleged short review made the rounds calling INHUMANS "worse than Iron Fist." The legitimacy of this review is not confirmed, yet it continues the negative narrative around INHUMANS.

Can INHUMANS be saved? That's a really tough question to answer confidently at the moment, but we will all find out very soon.
