Marvel Studios Needs to Pair Hulk with Spidey in the SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is opening very soon and it's projecting upwards of a $110 million opening weekend, domestically, which has Sony and Marvel Studios excited enough to have already green lit its sequel in summer 2019.

Within a feature article about the Sony and Marvel Studios partnership for the Spider-Man live action movie rights, The Hollywood Reporter says Marvel will share another of their characters with Sony for the sequel just as they did with Tony Stark / Iron Man in this new film.

THR writes:

"Sony will get a to-be-determined Marvel character for Spider-Man 2 like it received for Homecoming with the box-office monster Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. But sources say it won't be Iron Man next time around."

The immediate thought and hope is for the Marvel Studios character to be the Incredible Hulk, who the studio can only use in supporting roles since Universal Studios still owns his solo movie distribution rights. Sure, Hulk will be seen in this fall's THOR: RAGNAROK but pairing the green rage monster with the teenage Spider-Man has worked in the comic book universe so many times it is pure entertainment when the two are paired.

Of course this just some speculation, but one many Marvel fans would love to see.

Is there ever such a thing as too much Hulk in a supporting role?

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING releases in the U.S. on July 7.
