Here Comes SQUIRREL GIRL as Freeform Green Lights NEW WARRIORS to Series

Need some more superhero television in your life?

If you said "YES!" then you're in luck as Freeform, formerly ABC Family, has green lit NEW WARRIORS to a series order. This younger group of heroes will feature Squirrel Girl and will be a "30-minute live action comedy," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 10-episode comedy series will debut in 2018 and Kevin Biegel (COUGAR TOWN, SCRUBS) is about to put ink to paper and sign on the dotted line as NEW WARRIORS' showrunner.

Here's a brief description of how Squirrel Girl will be in the new show:

"The series will feature Marvel fan-favorite 'Squirrel Girl' (a.k.a. Doreen Green) as a totally empowering fan girl who is described as tough, optimistic and a natural leader. Doreen is confident and has the powers of a squirrel: she's acrobatic, can fight and talk to other squirrels. Her most important trait is said to be her faith in people and ability to teach them to believe in themselves."

NEW WARRIORS will be Freeform's second Marvel TV show as it joins CLOAK & DAGGER and both will premiering in 2018.
